In last week’s blog, I crystallized my conceptualization of the new DMT Artistry logo. A “phoenix” is the ideal symbol for what I do and how I do it. It matches my business goals. It matches my business values. It matches my business aspirations.
So I decided not to use it.
Did you just do a double-take? I did, too, when I came to this conclusion! The reason I’ve chosen to change course is because the concept doesn’t fully match ME.
DMT Artistry’s tagline is “Designing You” – i.e. designing the essence of the person/people who give the business life. While the phoenix captures the essence of DMT Artistry, LLC, it misses an essential element to who I am and what I bring to my business… that element is “fun”.
Certainly a phoenix can be fun (a nod here to Harry Potter), but not in a way that uniquely suits my personal design taste.
My new logo sketches have rolled me back into an Autobhan-style flurry of creative effusion.
If you’re getting carsick on this journey to the perfect logo design, hang in there! Designers, by necessity, have stomachs of steel, but the twists and turns to launch a company brand can unnerve the best of us.
Crank up your sense of adventure… let’s see where this new road leads!
